Message from Seamus

I hope 2010 is off to a good start for you all. The New Year has brought many changes in my life. My wife Mary Pat and myself moved the family from Cranford NJ to Doylestown PA on January 4. We were sad to leave NJ after fourteen great years but my job and my music career is all in the PA area. We are all settling in very well and look forward to many great years in Pennsylvania.

The good news is that Doylestown is a great place for music. They have several live music venues. I look forward to finally having a chance to do some solo shows for my friends in PA. I continue to play with Blackthorn and we have a very busy year ahead of us with shows all over Philly and down the New Jersey shore.

The move to PA forced me to put the recording of my new CD on hold but I’m looking forward to getting back in the studio before the summer. I did spend a few days in Nashville just before Christmas and was once again inspired by the great music there. The highlight of the visit was the Grand Ole Opry. We saw Nancy Griffith, Trace Atkins and Vince Gill. The show was at the original Ryman auditorium which added to the magic.  All three artists were just amazing. Vince Gill played three songs on acoustic and simply blew the roof off the house. He is truly a gifted musician. Thanks to my producer Pete Huttlinger and his wife Erin, I was fortunate to be invited to Vince’s 50th birthday when I was recording my first solo CD in Nashville and was impressed by how “normal” he is–see attached photo.

I look forward to seeing you during the year. I promise to do a better job keeping the site up to date so come back and visit often.

Chance Meeting

Seamus Kelleher pays tribute to Rory Gallagher, his boyhood idol, in this scene from the film “Songs & Stories: New York Remembers Rory Gallagher.”

Considered a guitar hero by many in his native Galway and his adopted home of New York, Seamus Kelleher has finally made the CD that showcases not only his amazing guitar playing abilities but also his song writing and singing.

After thirty years of recording with a variety of artists in Ireland and the US, Seamus headed to Nashville in April of ‘07 and over a four day period recorded Four Cups of Coffee. The CD was produced by Peter Huttlinger, one of Nashville’s most sought after guitar players and producers.

Each track on Four Cups of Coffee is a musical feast. There is a tribute to Elmore James and Robert Johnson with the track “Dust My Broom.” The title track “Four Cups of Coffee” shows the old Chicago blues influence on Seamus’ playing. After hearing the track “What’s Goin On,” you will understand why Seamus was referred to in his native Galway as “The long haired weirdo who could make the guitar talk.”

From the emotional opening song “My Friend Ben” to the haunting “Madame” you will find yourself wanting Seamus to get to work on his second solo record.
